Diablo Immortal's classes and guides

Understanding the classes in Diablo Immortal will give you a big advantage over other players just starting out on their Sanctuary journeys. That's why we're here to give you everything that's on offer.

Diablo has always been about choosing your favorite classes to face the minions and bosses of Hell. The class selection screen in the first game is one of the most iconic in the franchise's history, and the class list has grown and shrunk to meet the needs of the series.

Diablo Immortal is no different. While many may expect a stripped-down experience due to the game's mobile focus, that is not the case here. The title and its PC beta will feature six classes, and we imagine the list will grow as the game is supported.

However, which classes will you encounter when you first boot up the game? Here are all the confirmed classes for Diablo Immortal, as well as information on how to re-roll if you want to try a new one.

Diablo Immortal Classes

DIABLO IMMORTAL CLASSES: BARBARIAN

Diablo Immortal doesn't have a dedicated tank class, but the Barbarian is the closest you'll get. It can take the most damage, but it can certainly do damage as well. If you like to be the kind of player who draws enemies' attention to you in protecting your team, this will be a perfect transition.
Barbarians do mostly area-of-effect damage, which means that their single-target damage is not as great. However, if you want to get in the middle of melee and give the demons from hell a bloody, melee fight, this is the class for you.

DIABLO IMMORTAL CLASSES: CRUSADO

The Crusader is not entirely unlike the Barbarian, as another melee-focused fighter who likes to get in the middle of it. The Crusader has more mobility, thanks to his trusty steed, and has exceptionally strong area-of-effect attacks.

There are disadvantages to the character, however. He has potentially the worst single target damage in the game, so he's a lackluster foe against bosses. He also relies almost entirely on his reload abilities. If you don't manage them properly, you could end up doing nothing while you wait for them to reset. However, when a horde of demons comes running at you, this is the character you want on your side.

DIABLO IMMORTAL CLASSES: DEMON HUNTER

The Demon Hunter is the glass cannon of the Diablo Immortal class list. If you like to do damage, this is the character for you, as they can dish out some of the most powerful attacks in the entire game. If there are a lot of enemies on the field, you will see a lot of big numbers coming out of their heads.

That said, there is a sharp tradeoff. Demon Hunter can't take as much damage before it tumbles, and it can get caught if it doesn't have evasion skills. Demon Hunter is like living on the edge of a blade; a moment of glory as well as death. If this dance sounds appealing to you, you will do well with this class.

DIABLO IMMORTAL CLASSES: MONK

Monks are melee fighters, but they also offer a bit of utility. They can provide shields, as well as crowd-control attacks that group enemies into tight groups for your team to decimate. In addition, they provide important buffs for your team, making them a strong option for any group.

The Monk is also a fast melee damage doer who can punch as hard as any other strong fighter. It is one of the most mobile classes and can certainly bring the pain. It is a fairly technical role, so it will require some practice, but it can bring great rewards when mastered.

DIABLO IMMORTAL CLASSES: NECROMANCER

If you are like me and love edgy, dark gothic vibes, the Necromancer is for you. It is a long-range class, although many of its moves leave you relatively close to enemies. This is the tradeoff that, not unlike Demon Hunter, you will have to learn to balance.

Of course, being a Necromancer, you have the ability to raise the dead. This will give you at least some protection against the swarms of enemies running towards you.

Most teams should be excited to have a Necromancer on their team, as they can provide very powerful buffs for everyone on the team. Keeping one around will undoubtedly make you stronger.

DIABLO IMMORTAL CLASSES: ARCANIST

The Wizard is the best ranged area-of-effect character in the game. If you want to eliminate hordes of enemies from a safe distance, the Wizard is for you. Fire, frost, the arcane - it's all at your fingertips and ready to rain down on the demons below.

The class can do the most blast damage in the game and excels at performing combos. Managing multiple cooldowns can be tricky, and some harder shots will test your aim - which isn't always easy on the phone screen - meaning this is one of the most technical classes available.

DIABLO IMMORTAL CLASSES: CAN YOU CHANGE?

Unfortunately, you won't be able to change classes at launch, but it's a feature that is coming "soon after in a patch."

In a developer blog (opens in a new tab), Blizzard said they wanted players to explore various classes: "When you change classes, you keep all your progress in the Paragon levels. You will receive a new set of equipped items appropriate for your new class, and you can transfer all your item and gem progress to them. None of your old items or inventory will be lost, and your progress in Horadric's Vessels and the Helliquary will also be retained."

he, however, added that players who stick to one class will generally be better off, saying, "Since the process of collecting legendary affixes is time-consuming, we expect that players who focus on a single class will have some advantages, such as a wider selection of available character builds."

It's good to know that you won't be stuck with just one class. Diablo has many fun archetypes and being able to try them out will be a great source of fun for players.

BEST DIABLO IMMORTAL CLASSES

The good news is that no class is horrible. Diablo Immortal has hit a fine line between each of the roles you can play, and no hero you choose will be horrible. That said, and it is still early, there are some very strong classes right now. If you can't decide yet and just want to go with what is strong right now, here is how we would rank the classes based on their current power level.

Crusaders - Crusaders have everything going for them. They are comparable to barbarians, but their ability to ride horses is exceptionally powerful, giving them incredible maneuverability. They are currently the best class in the game.
Barbarians - Powerful barbarians are extremely tough and also offer great damage. They are the tank of all classes and are great if you like to start and finish the fight in the middle of it.
Demon Hunter - Demon Hunters offer huge DPS, making them possibly the best damage dealers in the game. If you can stay alive, you will destroy enemies, however, this survivability is one of their main weaknesses.
Necromancer - Necromancer is one of the most fun classes in the game, with great ranged options. Its minions are really great, especially in solo play. However, you can get caught out thanks to your poor movement skills.
Monk - Has huge potential, offering the most utility in the classes. However, it is a very technical role that turns off many. If you master it, you'll be one of the best, but that's not easy.
Arcanist - This can be good if you handle them correctly, but one of the hardest to play. It is difficult for Wizards, especially in solo play.
