Lineage W takes place 150 years after the events of the original Lineage. The game's storyline and world have been reimagined and are now a dark fantasy in stark contrast to the vibrant fantasy world from past games in the franchise. In a dark fantasy setting, themes such as honor, sacrifice and oath become heavier and more serious. Players will need to experience this from the very moment the character is created.
Lineage W will have three-dimensional graphics, but at the same time retain the classic isometric view of the very first part. According to the authors, this will allow capturing details of the characters and the world that cannot be expressed in two-dimensional format.
For example, in the original "line" the dragon Antaras did not look so impressive, but in Lineage W he is a huge figure that fills almost the entire screen. However, he not only changed in size, but was able to destroy or transform the surrounding area with his powerful power.
Thus, the transition to 3D made it possible to change not only the visual part, but also the gameplay. When fighting bosses such as Antharas, users must think through various strategies, taking into account the dynamic changes in the terrain and battlefield caused by the attacks of the monsters.
Lineage W was designed with the goal of "innovatively inheriting" the original gameplay. The authors tried to create a game that new users can easily adapt to by making the necessary changes without sacrificing the depth of gameplay that fans have come to expect.

As already mentioned, Lineage W will have one single world for all players. This is reflected in the name - the letter W means Worldwide, that is, "the whole world". Users from different countries can meet and interact on the same server without regional differences and restrictions.
Especially in order to simplify communication, the developers have introduced translation technology based on artificial intelligence. All text in the chat will be automatically translated into the language of your choice. AI from NCSOFT specializes in games, so it needs to understand spoken language and various Internet terms used in MMOs.
In addition, the developers have provided a Voice to Text feature that automatically converts speech from voice chat to text. Together with the built-in translator, players will be able to understand even people who speak a foreign language through the "voice".
