5 Best Orbs In Peglin - A Pachinko Roguelike

Peglin is a roguelike turn-based role-playing game where instead of picking commands from a list, you play some pachinko. There are an array of orbs with varying effects, and damage is usually dealt by hitting pegs with those orbs. If you want to knock down pegs and bring big damage (and stay alive longer), here are the best orbs in the game, ranked. You can also click here to read the beginner guide we've provided for you!

Matryorbshka

The Matryorbshka, as its whimsical name suggests, splits into two orbs upon impacting a peg, really capturing the joy of a multi-ball in a pinball machine. Upgrading this orb allows the split up orbs to also split up, and so on when you level it up again, leading to a veritable swarm of pink orbs.

Unfortunately, as fun as it is, its weak power and lack of power gain when upgrading, means that you’ll need to pick up some relics that boost your damage output like the Basic Blade or the Power Glove. Also, this orb does not work well with the Matryoshka Shell or indeed anything that lowers your orb damage and would lead to a screen full of orbs that do no damage.

Bob-Orb

The Bob-Orb is one of the best tools to leverage one of the most useful elements that can show up on a board, the Bomb. Bombs, when hit twice (or once with an Infernorb), will explode and send your orb flying. When it’s time to attack, all detonated bombs are thrown, damaging all on-screen enemies for a set amount of points.

This orb makes sure you always have bombs to set off since every eighth peg hit turns into a bomb, with upgrades allowing it to change every sixth peg as well as the first peg hit. The orb does no damage itself, though. Also, the power of this orb falls off at end-game, even with Bomb-related relics as enemies gain big HP pools.

Poltorbgeist

Though orbs that hit multiple enemies are not unreasonably rare in Peglin, they're still uncommon enough that you want to pick them up when you can. This spooky orb is one such multi-hit option, hitting all enemies with an eerie wave. Though it has unimpressive damage numbers, it can still do some work thanks to its other quirk, the ability to pass through pegs on an upward bounce. This is likely because of the aforementioned spooky ghost powers.

Bouldorb

If there is one thing about the Bouldorb that stands out, it would be its size, being the biggest orb in the game — almost quadruple the size of a Stone. It also has the uncommon ability to hit multiple enemies, namely all of the ones that are on the ground. The Bouldorb's big size and multi-hit ability make it a safe pick in every run since it can hit more pegs and more enemies, with the inability to hit aerial enemies rarely being an issue.

Extra-Orbinary

The opposite of orbs like the Daggorb or the Allorbnothing, the Extra-Orbinary is more powerful when not critting. In fact, its crit stat cannot even be empowered, with all crit gains from relics added to its normal damage.

Though the crit-based orbs have a higher potential for big numbers, they're required to hit Critical pegs to do much work at all. Meanwhile, Normal Pegs are abundant, so you're likely to get more damage over time out of this humble work-horse of an orb.
